Professional Summary

Hi there! My name is Audrey Gothard and I’m an intern at Life Counseling Institute. I am currently working toward my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at DePaul University.

If you are scrolling through this page, you may have reached a point where you feel stuck–with depression, relationship struggles, loneliness, patterns that no longer serve you, life transitions, grief, loss, or unexpected change. You want to make changes, but it may feel too big to handle. I was drawn to this field to sit alongside you, root for you, explore the complexities of life, gently challenge you, and watch you grow. You are not alone and it’s important for you to know and experience that. You have the tools you need, and therapy can be a guide to unlock what is already within.

I believe that hardships are often a sign for us to pause, reflect, and re-establish who we are. Finding what we wish to keep and releasing what no longer serves us. It is not about reaching a final destination, but through each step of therapy, there is growth, vital reflection, strength, and so much more. To me, these are some of life’s greatest components.

I have three years of experience working with both adolescents and adults in the residential setting who struggle with disordered eating patterns as well as co-occuring mental health concerns. Before this work, I was a part of a non-profit grief and loss organization, working with children and adolescents to have space to share their stories and find ways of healing through their immense grief.

I would be honored to meet you, hear your story, and be a part of your therapy journey.

Audrey primarily works with teens and adults. She has experience working with anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions.
