Professional Summary
Hi! My name is Marisa Seper, and I’m a licensed clinical social worker. As a parent, it’s so important to advocate for the needs of your child, and I’m so excited you’re taking this step in your child’s healing journey.
I believe that you are the expert when it comes to your child. No matter how much education or training I have, you will always be the expert. It is hard to see your child experience hardship and struggle, and it’s exhausting as a parent to witness and deal with the behaviors of this struggle. I am here to support and guide you through this process. We will work as a team and collaborate on ways to better serve your child. I encourage you to not feel embarrassed or guilty for seeking help. It’s okay to not always know what to do or have the answers. I commend you for taking this step and reaching out. I truly want to guide and support you through this therapeutic process.
My passion is working with children. I have such a heart to serve children, and it was through this passion that I found my love for counseling and therapy. My goal is to teach your child feelings, emotions, coping skills, and for them to learn the skills to express their needs and emotions appropriately. When working with your child, my favorite modality is utilizing play to build connection and bond. Throughout my training, I have learned that toys are a child’s words and play is their language. Play has many healing factors but the therapeutic relationship between child and therapist is also very important.
In addition to working with children, I also extended my passion to provide trauma therapy to adults. In my previous work, I was an adoptions therapist and worked with many children from hard places. I was able to transfer my skills and experience from working with children to adults. While working with adults, I’ve noticed that many need support in healing their inner child. Being a children’s therapist and being trauma informed, I feel I can support you in that healing journey whatever the trauma may be.
I look forward to meeting you or your child.
