Frequently Asked Questions

We focus here on forms of therapy that are evidence-based…that is, there is research demonstrating that the forms of therapy we use actually work. Examples include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), and emotion-focused therapy (EFT). If you have never been in counseling before–or conversely, you have and it didn’t work–we think you’ll be happy with your progress here.

Yes, we are in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO (not the HMO), United Health, and Aetna. Our team is happy to help you understand your benefits before your first appointment. If we’re not in-network with your insurance, we can also discuss private-pay options.

Your first session is an opportunity to get to know your therapist and share what brings you to counseling. Together, you’ll discuss your concerns, explore your goals, and begin creating a plan that fits your needs. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out; your therapist will guide the conversation at a pace that feels comfortable.

Every person’s journey is different. Some clients find relief in just a few sessions focused on a specific concern, while others choose longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns and create lasting growth. Your therapist will regularly review your goals with you and adjust your treatment as your needs evolve.

Yes. Your privacy is very important to us. Counseling sessions are confidential, with a few legal and ethical exceptions related to safety that your therapist will review with you during your first appointment.

That’s completely normal. Taking the first step can feel intimidating, especially if you’ve never been to therapy before. Our goal is to create a welcoming, judgment-free environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself. We’ll guide you through the process at a pace that feels right for you.
