Professional Summary

Hi! My name is Julia Balnius (she/her), and I am an intern at Life Counseling Institute. I am working towards my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Northwestern University.

As we go through life, we all experience challenging moments. Whether you are experiencing feelings of depression, anxiety, or are encountering life difficulties or transitions, you deserve to have a support system to help you navigate those challenges. I hope to be a part of that support system and build a relationship where we create an environment that feels safe, comfortable, and allows us to talk candidly. Therapy is a place for you to be unapologetically yourself. As we navigate life together, you will leave with more tools to manage the many challenges that come your way.

I work with adults, children, and teens. In my work with adults, I work to form a strong alliance by providing guidance and support to identify the root issues of your challenges and help you establish new behavior patterns to allow you to be the best version of yourself.

I have always been passionate about working with children and teens to provide them a safe space as they maneuver through confusing and complicated times while discovering their true selves. Growing up is not an easy task. Children and teens may experience emotions and situations they may not understand. In my work, I hope to provide a safe space where their emotions can make more sense and guide them in managing those complex situations.

I am glad you are here, and I hope to work with you!

Julia works with children, teens, and adults. She has experience working with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and behavioral and social issues.
